a new and easy online service to process requests and forms. |
iOffice
can be accessed by international students, scholars,
and staff to track current information, update records,
and
most importantly, request and submit important forms,
using e-forms.
Visa forms, petitions requested by students or departments,
are easily submitted through this service.
Both services require using your UC Central Login to setup
an access account. once approved, using e-forms is reliable,
secure, and fast.

Cultural Events and Programming
|
Orientation for Students: Summer Quarter Orientation will
be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
in Edwards Center One, Room 3134. Attendance is mandatory for
F-1 and J-1 students who have arrived for Summer Quarter,
2009. J-1 students who will be enrolled for classes are
also required to attend.

Save the dates for Worldfest 2009 on Economic Justice.
Come and join the celebration at this year's Worldfest. Worldfest
will take place from April 24 - May 3, 2009. For more information

J-1 Exchange Visitor Orientation |
Mandatory OPT Seminar |
All J-1 Exchange Visitors are required by
Federal Law to receive an Orientation after their arrival.
Orientations are held on the last Thursday of each month from 3:00
p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (except for November and December).
The orientation schedule for 2009 is as follows:

All students must attend an Optional Practical Training (OPT)
Seminar prior to applying for OPT through the UC International
Services.
Please bring your Passport, I-94 card,
VISA, and all I-20's that have been issued to you.

Fridays: 3:00 p.m., 3134 Edwards Center One

English Language Assistance for
Prospective UC Students
If you require full-time, intensive English preparation
before entering
the University, we are here to support
you with a special program. ELS-Cincinnati
Language Center is located on our campus, and students enrolled in this
program can receive many of the great benefits available to UC
students. ELS and UC's International Admissions Office
work together to issue Conditional Letters of Acceptance. The
ELS
website explains how to enroll, costs, and schedules of
classes. Plan
ahead, and take advantage of English immersion on campus. |

English Proficiency for Current UC
Students, Scholars, and Faculty
There is a reliable and convenient resource on campus dedicated to
helping you improve your
English proficiency. Introducing the Center
for ESL located
in Edwards Center. Courses are designed to help students and
scholars with challenges that non-native speakers typically
face during their academic studies and performance. Review
the website for current course offerings and advisors who
can guide you to success. |

Outstanding International Graduate
Student Award |
| |
The Outstanding International Graduate
Student Award has been developed by UC International and
the Graduate Student Governance Association to recognize
and honor international graduate
students who show promise of exceptional academic, intellectual
and leadership abilities. This award uniquely symbolizes
the synthesis of the spirit
of cultural competence along with other UC|21 core objectives.
To be eligible for this award, the applicant must be a full-time,
currently enrolled graduate student on a non-immigrant student
visa, and in good
standing at the University of Cincinnati. Graduate students
finished with all required course work who are writing a
thesis or dissertation, are also eligible. Each award will
have a cash value of $200
(and two
awards will be given). The completed applications are due
at UC International Services (Room 3134 Edwards Center One)
by Friday, May 23, 2008 at 5
p.m. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
